YOUNIQ Studio

What do we wear/bring?

For your kids: I encourage you to bring items that make them comfortable (such as stuffed animals, blankets, etc.)  We can incorporate these into the pictures or use them off camera to engage the child. I also suggest bringing snacks/water/juice with you in the event your child gets hungry.

I prefer to use minimal props when doing photo shoots but they can be a useful tool and make for some fabulous pictures, so please feel free to bring whatever props you'd like!

Matching outfits can make for some pretty boring photos so be your "YOUniq" selves and don't feel pressured to make everyone wear white button-down shirts and blue jeans. My advice is to have everyone stay in a similar color palette and wear something that makes you and your loved ones feel cute and comfortable!

I am a huge fan of glasses but unfortunately they don’t make for the best photos. The light bounces off them, creating a terrible glare and does not allow your eyes to be seen in their best light.

***Remember LAYERS, COLORS, TEXTURES. Try to avoid wearing all white or all black as this does not photograph well in certain light.

Location and Lighting

When choosing your location, please keep in mind I prefer to shoot in natural light which means mostly outdoors or in front of windows. I understand busy schedules and working around your kiddos' sleeping/eating routines, so I'm flexible and willing to shoot at whatever time works the best for your family! :)

Think about where you'd like to have your photos taken... Do you like the rustic feel of barns and old buildings; a giant field providing a beautiful, simple backdrop; or do you prefer to be at a park/garden with your kids?

***If your child typically naps during the day, consider scheduling your shoot right after the nap for the best images.

Children

Do not worry if your child is uncooperative or antsy some of the time. It’s okay... And it's even expected. Candid photos of you talking to your child, distracting them, comforting him/her, etc. make for some precious memories that you're going to want to remember in 15 years when they're no longer cradled in your arms. However, I DO encourage you to talk to your child(ren) and let him/her know ahead of time what’s about to take place and let them know how much fun it will be!

Please bring a swaddle, diaper cover(s) and any small blankets (preferably in solid colors) for any young children/babies you may have. Children look adorable in little outfits so bring as many outfits as you'd like! Having at least one extra outfit is usually a good idea incase a young child wets him/herself. Accessories like hats/headbands are encouraged, too.

When can we see the photos?

I will post a sneak peek of your session on the website and social media within the first week of your session. At the end of your session, we will schedule a viewing of your images (scheduled 2-3 weeks after your shoot) and you'll be able to order any prints, canvases, and albums. Please make sure ALL "decision makers" are present during this consultation. This viewing is very casual and typically lasts no longer than 45 minutes and can even be done in the comfort of your home or local coffee shop! While the printing rights are included in your purchase, I STRONGLY encourage purchasing products through Youniq Studio. We have searched for and tested many different products and I assure you they are of high quality; and while these products are not necessarily the cheapest, they ARE cost-efficient and you will receive the quality of product that you pay for.

Images from your session will be ready to view within 3 weeks of your session date. You will receive an email with a link to your (password protected) viewing page on YOUNIQ Studio's website where you (and any extended family members) can view your images.  Please note that this viewing gallery will only be available for one month; unless you choose to purchase an upgrade, in which case your gallery will never expire, and you (and with whom you share the link) will be able to view as many times as you want, whenever you want!
